Sewing House, Norfolk

The Sewing House

A house that has been abandoned for around 40 years, containing a good number of sewing machines along with other items, and even a classic car still parked outside.

 UK Norfolk, UK Abandoned

The Sewing House is an old home in Norfolk that seems to have been abandoned for quite some time. Evidence would indicate it’s maybe 40 years or more since the house was lived in, jars in the kitchen bearing dates from the early 1970’s. Generally the house wasn’t in too bad condition considering it has stood abandoned for so long, there were one or two holes in the roof but there didn’t appear to be any structurally problems. Once the guys I visited with, Kriegaffe9, Cowboy55 and ZeroUE had finished trying to light a particularly dark room I flicked the light switch and amazingly discovered the power was still live! Shocking (ha ha) for a property that has been empty for so long.

There were plenty of items left over, along with the furniture were a whole selection of sewing machines. The classic cars in the garden and garage area along with an old piano and bike made for some interesting mooching.

  1. The attic photo… I would call “Treasures of yore beneath the roof “. These places and photos are all so stunning and so well framed. I could stare at them for hours. That is how intriguing they all are. Thank you for sharing your talent.

  2. I learned how to sew one of these and preferred it later in life , haven’t sewed on one for about 20 yrs and I’m only 50.

    • It depends very much on the location. Generally we try to protect anywhere that has items left or anything of value inside, as putting the location of these places on the internet would only attract thieves unfortunately.

  3. Ahh I see. It’s a shame, it’s a stunning place. I’ve almost convinced myself that I drive by it on the way to my new office. If it’s West Winch then maybe I do!

    • yes
but its boarded up now and the house is sold and the garden has been cleared with diggers ect but i did manage to save 4 cars from the garden first tho
