Holly Lodge started out life in 1828 as a detached Georgian house in West Derby, Liverpool.
The house became part of Holly Lodge Girls’ College, and was in use until 2015 when a new college was built within the grounds. The building is due to be demolished to make way for nearly 60 new homes being built by Redrow. The site includes two Grade II listed buildings, Fremont and Sandheys – which will be saved as part of the proposals.
Since its closure, the buildings have been used for filming, including sets for a police station, a prison and a hospital. The sets comprise mainly corridors and only a few other rooms.
As a pupil between 1960 and 1966 I was lucky to have the 4 beautiful houses to spend my schooldays in. The tiled floors, sweeping staircases and stained glass windows were so benighn compared to some of the brutal school buildings I’ved worked in since.
Was a pupil at Holly Lodge 1060-66 and didn’t realise how lucky I was to be in such a beautiful environment; buildings and grounds. Terrible shame it’s gone.
What a shame a beautiful building like this has to go modern buildings are not our heritage

I was there from 1962 to 1967. Beautiful school. First two years spent in Sandhead. Happy days such a shame.

My grandmother was married from Holly Lodge, her father E V Rayner’s home in 1910.
A sin these beautiful buildings were lost…I was there 1983 to 1990…x
Such lovely buildings, it is a real shame. I hope the redevelopment is sympathetic.
As a pupil from 1949 to 1954 This was the happiest part of my growing up experience
Fantastic to see the old school entrance area

As much as I love the views, i also love your image editing. I’m a bit OCD about converging lines too! Thanks for the cracking website.
