Towering High – Climbing a Tower Crane, UK

Climbing A Tower Crane

Climbing to the top of a tower crane, high above a building site somewhere in the UK, to take in the views in all directions.

Have you ever climbed to the top of a tower crane? Neither had I, so I decided to give it a go. Climbing the 58 metres of ladder is quite hard work but well worth it for the great views over the surrounding areas and such an adrenaline buzz from being up there!

There were two tower cranes on the building site, so I headed straight for the taller of the two. It’s surprising how much they sway around in the wind once you get to the top. But despite that they still feel remarkably secure and safe. Unfortunately the driver cab was locked, so I couldn’t get a selfie in the drivers seat, but still thoroughly enjoyed my first crane climb.
