An abandoned hospital in Hertfordshire with working lights. Operating theatres, a morgue and a radio playing Like a Virgin remain.
The Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, UK is an abandoned hospital. The NHS property has been completely emptied but the lights still work and the place has a few nice features.
The hospital had space for 100 beds and provided services including outpatient clinics, radiology, pathology, a breast unit and antenatal and postnatal care, as well as a 24/7 urgent care centre for people with minor injuries and illnesses.
£30 million was invested into the site and in October 2014 a brand new building was opened to provide all the services. The original building is due to be demolished to make way for housing and a care home.
