The town of Wünsdorf was the headquarters of the Soviet forces in East Germany, and was the largest military base in Europe.
There were 15 primary schools and 5 secondary schools in Pripyat. Toys and exercise books still remain strewn across the floor as a stark reminder of children that once attended.
The abandoned town of Pripyat was home to the workers of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, up until it’s evacuation three days after the disaster at the plant.
On a recent trip to Ukraine I witnessed the protests currently taking place in Independence Square, Kiev, and the aftermath of the riots which still remain.
