Globe Mills were built in 1887-9 by the newly established Globe Worsted company of Slaithwaite in the Clone Valley near Huddersfield. The site is now being redeveloped.
George Barnsley & Sons were the world’s largest producer of files and cutting tools for the shoemaking industry, based at the Cornish Works in Sheffield.
The Sanyo Electronics factory focussed on the manufacture of televisions of all shapes and sizes. It closed its doors in 2010 due to a fall in demand for traditional TV’s.
The Chocolate Works in York was built by Terry’s in 1924 and produced chocolates and other confectioneries until 2005, the grand staircase of the admin block still remains.
The Wallerscote Works in Northwich is a live industrial site, the running machinery makes for an interesting explore, and the sites lighting makes for some great pictures.
