Opening in 1908 the Cardiff City Asylum had space for 750 psychiatric patients. The hospital closed in 2016 after being deemed unsuitable for modern services.
HMP Holloway was the largest women’s only prison in Europe until its closure in 2016. Rebuilt in the 1970s, the prison’s design was recognised as a failure.
The Royal Hospital Haslar was the largest hospital in England. It had a long and distinguished history serving military personnel, and later civilians. The site closed in 2009.
Crookham Court is a manor house built around 1850. The house had many uses over the years, including use as a family home and as a school until it’s closure in the 1990s.
An abandoned Catholic boarding school in France. The large buildings have been empty for some time but the chapel at the heart of the building is very impressive.
