Opening in the 1950s the CHU de Charleroi was a prominent building in the city centre. The purpose built facility had an accident and emergency unit and a large number of operating theatres. Patients were transferred to a brand new hospital a few miles away in Lodelinsart when the Civil Hospital of Charleroi closed in October 2014. , and I got over there just in time as the hospital has since been demolished. A proportion of the site had already gone when we visited, including many of the operating theatres. Luckily for us a couple still remained, complete with operating tables and lights.[...]
Selly Oak Hospital started out as a Workhouse for the poor and developed over time. The mortuary, operating theatres and wards were added as part of expansion.
